RAFA LOZANO JR WINS MEDITERRANEAN GAMES GOLD IN TARANTO

Gold for the family.

Rafa Lozano Jr, Paris 2024 Olympian, World Boxing silver medallist and the face of the BOXELITE S-PRO alongside his father, is the new Mediterranean Games champion at 55kg. In Taranto, Italy, the 21-year-old from Córdoba fought his way through the bracket and left with the only medal he came for.

The Road Through Taranto

The run was not given to him.

In the quarterfinals on August 25 in San Giorgio Jonico, Lozano beat Italy's Tommaso Sciacca in front of Sciacca's home crowd, taking the fight 4-1 on the cards and guaranteeing Spain a medal. In the semifinals he got past Algeria's Amine Azaz to book his place in the final. And in the final, with everything on the line, he edged France's Christopher Hippocrate in a 3-2 split decision. The kind of fight that gets decided by details, nerve and corner work. Gold.

The Next Chapter of a Legacy

The surname is not a coincidence.

His father, Rafael Lozano Sr, known in boxing as "Balita", is Spanish boxing royalty: a three-time Olympian (Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000), Olympic bronze medallist in Atlanta, Olympic silver medallist in Sydney, and today the head coach of the Spanish national boxing team. The corner his son fights out of is the most credentialed corner in Spanish boxing.

Lozano Jr has been building his own record inside it: Paris 2024 Olympian (one of the youngest boxers in the entire tournament), European bronze medallist, World Boxing silver medallist in Liverpool 2025, WBA Junior Champion, and now Mediterranean Games gold medallist at 55kg.

The next stop on that road has been public for a long time: Los Angeles 2028.

Why a Spanish Champion Chose the Mexican Glove

Lozano is not Mexican. He is Spanish, born in Córdoba, raised in the Spanish national program. And that is exactly the point.

When it came to the gloves he trains in, he chose the Mexican school, because Mexican boxing stands for something specific: pressure, power and heart, refined over generations of world champions. That force is what the S-PRO was built to carry. A modern Mexican boxing glove, engineered for fighters who want what Mexico gave this sport, wherever they were born.

When BOXELITE finished the S-PRO, we put it in the hands of this family first: fighter and coach. They tested it, they approved it, and they put their names on it. That is what "Made for Champions" means to us. Not a slogan. A standard, set by the people who live it.
